Liverpool know they can win the Premier League on Sunday afternoon if they beat Leicester City and Arsenal lose to Ipswich Town earlier in the day.

With the Reds needing just six points to clinch their second Premier League crown, defeat for the Gunners at Portman Road followed by victory for themselves at the King Power Stadium ensures they can’t be usurped in top spot. Even if Arsenal win, Liverpool will move within one victory of glory if they triumph in the East Midlands.

Liverpool will be aiming to secure a more comfortable victory than they managed against West Ham United last weekend, where they were reliant upon Virgil van Dijk’s 89th-minute winner to save them from dropping points. The Dutch colossus will be celebrating his shiny new contract against the Foxes.

Leicester appear unlikely to cause an upset on Liverpool’s visit but they will delay their inevitable relegation a little longer should they triumph. However, a draw or defeat to the table-topping Reds will confirm their return to the Championship.

Leicester will see Wout Faes return this weekend after the centre-back, who once scored two own goals in a single game against Liverpool, missed the 2-2 draw with Brighton last time out.

15-year-old Jeremy Monga – who became the second-youngest player in Premier League history when he featured at the beginning of the month – has also been passed fit after recently struggling with an ankle injury.

Abdul Fatawu is a confirmed absentee for Leicester as he continues his recovery from an ACL injury, while Harry Winks, who has been reportedly frozen out of the Leicester squad after an argument with Ruud van Nistelrooy over the length of his commute to training, is likely to be absent again this weekend.

Liverpool have been without Trent Alexander-Arnold since before the March international break but the wantaway defender could return to the matchday squad on Sunday. Slot has confirmed that the right-back won’t start but could feature among the substitutes.

Conor Bradley will be the undisputed starter at right-back given Joe Gomez is also absent and the Northern Irishman impressed on his return to the starting lineup last time out. Alisson also came back into the side against West Ham following a concussion and made some crucial saves.

Having had a week to rest in between matches, Liverpool are likely to field a similar lineup to the one that narrowly beat the Irons, although Dominik Szoboszlai could feature instead of Curtis Jones.

Slot also revealed that there was no bust-up between Darwin Nunez and Liverpool staff, with the Uruguay international likely to return to the bench at the King Power.

Leicester vs Liverpool score prediction

Leicester ended their eight-game goal drought against Brighton last weekend and secured a respectable draw on the south coast, but they are likely to return to losing ways when visited by Liverpool on Sunday.

Only Southampton have a leakier defence than the Foxes and they will struggle to keep the league’s top scorers at bay, with last weekend’s galvanising victory over West Ham only likely to offer Liverpool even more motivation as they edge towards the title.

Prediction: Leicester 0-3 Liverpool
