Everton vs Man City: Preview, predictions and lineups

- Toffees have lost just three times since David Moyes return
By Ewan Ross-Murray | 12:05 AM GMT+1

Manchester City are aiming to take another sizeable step towards Champions League qualification when they visit Everton on Saturday afternoon.
The Cityzens came from two goals behind in their 5-2 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend but will be seeking a more routine win at Goodison Park. They’re currently fifth in the Premier League table – enough to reach the Champions League this season – and three points on Saturday will see them leapfrog Nottingham Forest in fourth before the Midlands side visit Tottenham Hotspur on Monday.
Conquering Everton will not be straightforward, however, with the Toffees having lost just twice since the return of David Moyes in the dugout.
They have taken points off Liverpool and Arsenal since the Scotsman’s comeback, while also beating City’s European competitors Forest with a stoppage-time winner last weekend. On home soil – one of three remaining matches at Goodison – they will cause Pep Guardiola’s star-studded squad issues.

Everton team news
Everton are still without Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has been missing since the end of January. Goals have dried up for Beto in recent weeks and Moyes even turned to Armando Broja against Forest last weekend.
Jesper Lindstrom could miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on a hernia and will certainly be absent until mid-May. He joins Orel Mangala on the sidelines, with the midfielder out for the campaign with an ACL injury.
Dwight McNeil has made several cameos from the bench in recent weeks – even assisting the winner at the City Ground last time out – but Everton will be careful with his return. Jack Harrison could start ahead of him again on Saturday.

Man City team news

Ederson, who registered his fourth Premier League assist of the season last weekend, could be missing in between the sticks after being withdrawn late against Palace. Stefan Ortega will replace the injured Brazilian, who is reportedly unlikely to face the Toffees.
Phil Foden was absent against the Eagles and remains a doubt to feature, although he’s not guaranteed a starting berth even if fit given his current form.
City remain without some hugely influential players for the clash at Goodison, with Rodri, Erling Haaland, Nathan Ake, John Stones and Manuel Akanji all sidelined.

Everton vs Man City score prediction
Everton will prove an enormous challenge for City this weekend – something we didn’t expect to be saying at the start of the season – and have already taken points off the Manchester giants back in December. Their stubborn low block will prove a stern test for the creators in Guardiola’s squad.
But there was something about City’s performance against Palace that captured a glimmer of their former selves, with some exquisite link-up play orchestrated by the resurgent Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian could be the difference-maker again this weekend.
Prediction: Everton 1-2 Man City
